Tired of seeing stereotypes of multi-ethnic cultures such as their own in shows and movies, Katleen Francois, Jehue Francois, Dmitriy Monakhov and Kordel Latimer combined forces to create a video streaming platform to showcase authentic, non-stereotyped multicultural experiences.
This power team brings over 40 years of experience in media production and distribution with a previous celebrity-breaking platform in the podcast space that reached over 5M listeners. Now, they’ve created a new viewing experience that celebrates the rich diversity of the rising majority, multicultural audience.
Katleen, co-founder and award-winning producer, manages talent acquisition and production as Chief Creative Officer. “We are so much more than what the media portrays, and we believe it is up to us to create narratives that are truly reflective of our experiences. From the Haitian Gangsters, Russian Mobsters, and Hijab-wearing terrorists, we expect more than these types of misrepresentations in the media.” says Katleen. She continues, “Netflix is not filling this gap because diverse content still only makes up a small percentage of its library and thus hard to discover, and the majority of YouTube content is uncurated and poorly produced.”
The team recently released the new Geaux TV platform and are rapidly curating new channels from rising filmmakers and producers, such as NY-based Moon Ferguson and her hit, award-winning JuJu web series and the award-winning, LA-based, Vietnamese filmmaker Hon Hoang. The platform offers a wide variety of genres from news to music and sci-fi for the 30 million multicultural millennials in the United States that demands this variety and authentic portrayals.
