Global digitalization is influencing the medical field, improving modern medicine and helping professionals save more lives. Because of the many benefits, engineers and computer scientists continue to create applications to connect patients and doctors remotely.

Telehealth can protect both visitors and professionals from catching contagious viruses and diseases. Four prominent telehealth startups give individuals better access to medical care. They aim to minimize physical and mental stress while increasing patients’ well-being.

The Rise of Telehealth

Telehealth companies experienced an increase in productivity during the COVID-19 lockdown. Patients and medical professionals had to use videoconferences and remote sampling to create diagnoses. Many individuals enjoyed the safety, comfortability and sustainability of telehealth.

Engineers and medical professionals decided to develop efficient telehealth systems and expand operations. They created cost-effective medical platforms to improve financial savings and stability. Investing in the Internet of Things and advanced communication platforms helped enhance telehealth capabilities.

During the pandemic, telehealth operations minimized the spread of COVID-19. Medical professionals can invest in digital platforms to prevent future limitations. Telehealth systems benefit patients with disabilities, mental health conditions, contagious illnesses and other health problems.

1. FemTech Health

Female developers and medical professionals are stepping up to the plate and creating telehealth platforms for women. Kimon Angelides is a health-tech entrepreneur who developed the health and beauty startup FemTec Health. FemTech uses advanced technologies to gather data and create personalized care plans for patients.

Angelides helped design the health care technology to empower women and help them navigate the patriarchal system. FemTech Health relies on a data-analytics system called BiomeAI. The platform uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to acquire and interpret personal health data.

FemTech Health creates a woman’s care portfolio — including their medications, claims, genomic information and other essential data. Health care providers can use these comprehensive portfolios to develop effective patient care plans. FemTech Health uses the leading technologies in health care to revolutionize women’s well-being.

2. Spora Health

Spora Health is a digital care system catering to patients of color. The telehealth platform connects patients to certified doctors, nutritionists, nurses and other health care professionals.

Spora Health also uses machine learning to assess patients’ lifestyle habits and determine their risks for chronic illnesses. The technology can identify, prevent and treat conditions like diabetes, emphysema, hypertension and more. Spora also believes in the re-education of providers using a curated program.

The company wants to diversify the health care system by supporting more professionals of color. Engineers at Spora also believe in affordable health care, so they designed an app that users may access for $9.99 a month. Individuals without insurance may pay $99 for their initial Spora Health signup visit.

3. 4D Healthware

Engineers designed 4D Healthware to treat COVID-19 patients from home. The telehealth program is a Black-owned monitoring technology.

Designers in Chicago developed this at-home treatment platform to connect patients to trained medical professionals remotely. The digital system connects to remote equipment and uploads patients’ vitals to the cloud through Wi-Fi connections. As the spread of COVID-19 decreases, 4D Healthware may focus on expanding its features.

4. Allara Health

This telehealth startup focuses on treating women with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Rachel Blank developed Allara to improve women’s access to specialty care for chronic health conditions. The platform helps patients manage their symptoms and connect with PCOS-specific health care professionals.

Allara is unique because it connects different health care providers and helps them work together. The platform distributes patients’ records to gynecologists, dieticians, dermatologists and more. Together, the specialists can identify the root of patients’ medical problems.

Why Will Telehealth Outlive the Pandemic?

Many patients experience racism and homophobia in medical settings. Individuals may protect themselves from hate and discomfort by using protected telehealth platforms. The systems can also protect individuals from experiencing sexual assault and other forms of physical violence in doctors’ offices.

More people prefer using telehealth technologies to increase the comfort and safety of their medical care. Individuals may connect with doctors through chat platforms instead of video conferencing to safeguard their race, gender and sexual identity.
